Since 2012 we have successfully delivered a variety of projects on behalf of the Client, NHSPS, across multiple sites including hospitals and Medical Centres. The projects were throughout Sussex and Hampshire, with a value of circa £35m.
The works included “Transforming Urgent Care in Crawley” which saw the provision of a fully refurbished and compliant Urgent Treatment Centre at Crawley Hospital in a live environment. It was imperative to ensure that the unit could remain fully functional 24 hours a day, 7 days a week whilst the works were undertaken.
The upgrade included:
A larger, modern adult waiting area and a separate paediatrics waiting area, a baby change room in the childrens waiting area, an open plan reception desk to improve communications, with a drop down point for wheelchair users, two sets of main entrance doors to improve access, a changing places facility.
As part of Transforming Urgent Care in Crawley, the works also included a new Clinical Assessment Unit (CAU). The CAU provides rapid assessment and treatment for conditions which do not require admission to an acute hospital. We also delivered the construction of a Sub-Acute Ward, which is a 26 bedded, dementia friendly in-patient unit.
Other works across the counties included compliance works to a number of other NHSPS properties for fire and DDA as well as essential roof replacements. All of the projects were undertaken in live environments which required close liaison with the tenants to ensure that there was no impact on the provision of services to patients.
Projects currently live on-site include, full compliance and ward refurbishment to a ward within Crawley Hospital and Major Mechanical and Electrical works at Royal South Hants Hospital with a value of circa £7m.
